Three Nines was proud to attend the British APCO Annual Event 2026 as BAPCO’s official charity partner, connecting with emergency service professionals and partners to highlight the importance of supporting children and young people after traumatic incidents.
Across the two-day event, the Three Nines team welcomed delegates to Stand A25 in the Wellness Zone, where we showcased early prototypes of our Calm & Care Kits – designed to help first responders provide immediate, trauma-informed support to children following distressing situations.
The response from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with those supporting front-line services providing valuable feedback that will help shape the next phase of development. These insights are key to ensuring the kits are practical, effective, and truly meet the needs of those supporting children in the moments that matter most.
The Calm & Care Kits, developed in partnership with BMT and Learning Resources (UK), combine expertise from across sectors to create a practical, compassionate solution. They are designed specifically for front-line responders to support children and young people in the immediate aftermath of crime, incidents, and other traumatic situations.
Throughout the event, we were also honoured to be joined by our ambassador, Paul Price, who engaged with delegates and shared his powerful advocacy for trauma-informed care following his experiences after the Manchester Arena attack. His presence helped reinforce the importance of long-term, compassionate support for those affected by trauma.
Day 2 saw the arrival of Marley, our therapy dog, and Cara Bowler, our Emotional Support Lead, who together brought a calm and reassuring presence to the stand. Delegates had the opportunity to learn more about the role therapy animals can play in helping children feel safe and supported in the aftermath of traumatic events.
Engagement at the stand extended beyond conversation, with many delegates taking part in our “Name the Bear” competition and signing up to our Hope After Hurt Lottery, helping to raise vital funds to support children and families affected by crime and trauma.
The BAPCO Annual Dinner was another highlight of the event, where our CEO, Anne Campbell Gunn, took to the stage to share two powerful case studies. These real-life stories demonstrated the impact of Three Nines’ work and the importance of ensuring children receive the right support after the emergency response ends. The evening also included a successful silent auction, raising additional funds to further our mission.
Reflecting on the event, Anne Campbell Gunn said:
“BAPCO 2026 has been an incredible opportunity to connect with those on the front line and to share our vision for supporting children after trauma. The feedback we’ve received on our Calm & Care Kits has been invaluable, and we’re excited to continue developing this work alongside our partners.”
Three Nines would like to thank everyone who visited the stand, shared feedback, supported our fundraising activities, and continues to champion trauma-informed approaches to supporting children and young people.
Together, we can ensure that no child faces trauma alone after the blue lights fade.
