Three Nines Children’s Charity was represented by CEO Anne Campbell Gunn and Emotional Support Lead Cara Bowler at today’s official opening of Hitchin Youth Trust’s new charity hub.
Hertfordshire’s Lord Lieutenant Robert Voss cut the ceremonial ribbon bedecking the premises at Walsworth Road and explained why he was pleased to support the charity hub concept, bringing charities together and offering a base from which to operate
Three Nines is one of a small number of youth charities invited to use the newly-refurbished building, ideally located between Hitchin’s railway station and town centre.
“The facilities at Walsworth Road are great – inivting modern spaces that our volunteers and staff will enjoy. There are smaller offices for one or two people and larger spaces for group activities. Perfect!”
Volunteers Wanted
As preparations continue for the opening of our offices, Three Nines is inviting members of the local community to join our growing team of volunteers.
We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers who can spare a few hours each week to help support the day-to-day running of our office, welcome visitors, assist with administration and help us continue expanding our work across Hertfordshire and beyond.
Whether you’re retired, looking to gain experience, wanting to give back to your community or simply passionate about making a difference, we’d love to hear from you. Every volunteer plays an important role in helping us ensure children and families receive the support they need during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Looking Ahead
Alongside preparations for opening our Hitchin offices, Three Nines continues to develop its pioneering Emotional First Aid initiative.
Developed in partnership with Learning Resources UK and BMT Consultancy, the initiative includes the rollout of our innovative Calm & Care Kits – designed to provide immediate, trauma-informed emotional support and reassurance for children following incidents attended by the emergency services. Each kit also includes a QR code, connecting children and families directly to Three Nines for ongoing support beyond the initial emergency response.
To support the next phase of this work, we will soon be recruiting an Emotional First Aid Project Manager, offering an exciting opportunity for someone to help lead and develop this pioneering programme as it continues to grow.
