Three Nines Children’s Charity was proud to be represented by Service Delivery Manager Diane Watts and Charity Ambassador Paul Price at the Victim Support (Homicide) National Conference in Birmingham on 17 September 2025. Together, they shared powerful insights into the charity’s trauma-informed approach and the importance of compassionate, early support for those impacted by crime.
Diane delivered a heartfelt and insightful presentation on the trauma-informed ways Three Nines supports children and families, shining a light on the vital role of early intervention. She shared real experiences from our work, showing how timely, compassionate support can help families begin to heal, rebuild, and rediscover a sense of normality after trauma.
Attendees also learned about our support services – including emotional support through our Listening Ears line, wellbeing respite breaks, and hardship support via our WishBox initiative – and how these services complement each other to provide comprehensive support for children and families recovering from trauma.
Alongside Diane’s presentation, Paul Price shared his personal journey of recovery following the Manchester Arena bombing in May 2017, where he sustained life-changing injuries and tragically lost his partner, Elaine. His personal story powerfully illustrated the lasting impact of trauma and the vital importance of sustained, compassionate support for survivors and their families.
Both Diane and Paul highlighted the value of collaboration between frontline responders, community services, and specialist charities to ensure children impacted by crime are identified early and receive the support they need.
“At Three Nines, our mission is simple: to help children and families recover, rebuild, and move forward,” Diane explained. “Every child deserves the chance to feel safe, strong, and supported, and early intervention can make all the difference in achieving that.”
Three Nines is grateful to Victim Support for inviting us to be part of such an important event. The conference provided a valuable platform to share expertise, learn from other professionals, and strengthen networks with organisations dedicated to supporting victims of crime.
