A new support charity for children and families receives its first official airing this week’s trailblazing Blue Light Show at London’s Olympia.

Three Nines Children’s Charity has been set up to help those who’ve been disadvantaged by crime and those who are at risk of becoming involved in it.

The charity’s volunteers will be attending the Show to recruit support from the emergency services’ first resopnders who are being invited to make referrals.

Said founding CEO, Anne Campbell Gunn: “We know it is not just the police who see the early signs of need. Paramedics, firefighters and other emergency responders are often the first to spot when a child or a family may be struggling.

She added that launch activities taking place over the next few months would include inviting feedback to ensure that as services develop, they are the most beneficial for vulnerable young people.

“The country is in a cost of living crisis and many support services for children and young people are just not there. We want to step in early and identify those who could do with help and support, either from a practical emotional perspective, that will help prevent further harm before it is too late.”

Three Nines will be presenting a panel discussion on Thursday charting the improvements in the response of the emergency services and trauma-informed support since the Manchester Arena terrorist bombing in May 2017. Speakers include survivors who are now working to press for continued change and the police chief who led changes in how the emergency services work trogether.

The panel discussion and Q & A is in Theatre Three at 10.10am on Thursday 19 June.

Notes: Three Nines’ application for registration with The Charity Commission is in progress.
